OC Mazda Video: Grandma Gets a CX-7

Sometimes social media just works.

Like when a happy customer uploads a video to Facebook surprising his mother-in-law with a new car.

That is what Orange County resident Bill Rams did after he purchased a CX-7 from OC Mazda.

From Bill’s Facebook page:

“On Saturday, we surprised my mother-in-law with a new CX-7. A few years ago, she put her career as a golf pro on hold to be the primary caregiver for her mother, father and husband – all of whom passed away between July 2009 and March 15, 2010. Today, she’s still taking care of her family, spending afternoons with our six-month-old, Charli… Thank you OC Mazda for helping us honor her with a new car. She loves it!”

Cal Net Technology Group Expands in Orange County

A lot of things are coming together for Cal Net Technology Group, who recently expanded their footprint in Orange County.

They were selected this year as a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner, tripled (tripled!) their office space in Orange County, increased their OC headcount and the Windows 7 migration translates into an even more compelling need for a reliable IT service provider.

The Gold Partner selection comes fresh on the heels of a report by Forrester Research that predicts a mass exodus from Microsoft XP to Microsoft 7 over the next twelve months.  IT firms holding the Microsoft competency in systems management will be poised to capitalize on the migration opportunity.

According to the report: “As firms naturally refresh their PCs, IT managers are already deploying Windows 7 on 31% of new PCs today, and within a year the number will increase to 83%.”

I spoke with Cal Net founder and CEO Zack Schuler about it yesterday.

“Windows 7 is going to be a huge hit this year. And as the economy turns around, there is going to be a big push to switch over.  Only four companies are Microsoft Gold Certified in this area and we are one of them.”

He felt my pain when I told him I was still using Vista and went on to explain how easily and quickly they are able to handle the move to Windows 7 for 300-400 user networks.

“It’s not like in your case, where you can just take a CD and be done with it.  We have an automated Windows 7 deployment that can upgrade hundreds of machines at a time.”

I asked him why SMBs should make the switch and he said it comes down to speed, security, ease of use and productivity gains.  “The new Windows 7 search function alone can turn a doc search from minutes into seconds.”

We talked briefly about his take on marketing and he basically said for him it all comes down to “getting your name out there”.

He uses talkTECH Communications for PR, leverages his own network built up over 15 years, puts on events, speaks and is active on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Most importantly he goes above and beyond when it comes to customer service and makes it a priority that everyone on his team understands.

The bottom line is that Cal Net Technology Group is best-in-class, easy to work with and can help your Orange County small business with all its IT needs.

To that end, OCBizBlog is co-sponsoring Cal Net’s Competitive Advantage luncheon event in Anaheim on Thursday, March 24th from 12pm-2pm. The theme of course is “Windows 7 Implementations”  and the invite list is limited to the first 20.  If you are interested in attending email me at  For the invite,  see below:
